The Selling Out Of The Better Business Bureau

According to some sources, the Better Business Bureau, which for years has been hailed as a source to which consumers may go to check on the integrity of a business, has sold out. They've taken the trust that has been placed in the BBB's good name, and exchanged it for the ability to collect more membership dollars.

In the past, there may have been reason to believe that a business with an "unsatisfactory" rating from the BBB might have a better chance to get that rating re-considered if they were to become a BBB members. But the change to "letter grades" made in 2009 has resulted in a plummeting of the trust that one can place in the BBB ratings.
