Secondly, no one had ever given me a marketing plan for the business. Many recruits were being told, "This is your business now, I cannot be there to hold your hand", or "You have to operate this business like you would any other business". Yeah right! How many women going from welfare-to-work know how to operate a business? How many women even under the inner-working of a business. You must have some send of Sales, Marketing, Product Knowledge, Knowing Your Customer Base, Recruiting, Competetive Pricing Structure, and ability to understand of use Technology, etc. etc. etc.
Finally, if you ever tell your Director you are considering leaving Mary Kay, you don't have to worry about her ever calling you again. Next victim.
one more tidbit...
The most important advice I can give anyone that is considering entering a Direct Marketing Business is this: Be aware of organizations that are "One Size Fits All". If they promise a business that everyone should be a part of...don't walk... run! If God created us uniquely and individually, why should we allow ourselves to look like everyone else, talk like everyone else, script like everyone else, and live like everyone else. That's the cookie-cutter mentalily.
