Biomagnetics, nature’s therapy for wellness™

Biomagnetic therapy is a safe, non-invasive method of applying specialized magnetic fields to the body far therapeutic purposes. It is recommended for the relief of joint and muscle discomfort. It helps to speed the healing process and improve quality of sleep without adverse side effects. Magnetic therapy is also used as a preventative measure, helping to protect injury-prone areas during physical activity.

Many clinical studies in the United States have shown magnetic therapy to be an effective method for relieving pain and inflammation. Japan and several eastern European countries have conducted studies for over 30 years, and researchers continue to find that it provides tremendous benefits for a wide range of conditions.

A Brief History

Over the centuries therapies have fallen in and out of favor based on their effectiveness, as well as the belief systems and political climate at the time. Magnetic therapy is one of only a very few therapies that have survived over the centuries. It has been well documented that many cultures, including the Chinese, ancient Greeks, Egyptians, all through the middle ages to modern Europe, have used magnets to relieve pain and symptoms of many conditions. However, the size and weight of magnets available until very recently, made them impractical for wide spread use. It the latter part of the twentieth century, smaller and stronger magnetic materials became available, which has led to a strong resurgence of magnetic therapy. Today, magnetic therapy is used by over 120 million people worldwide to help maintain or improve their health and enhance the quality of their lives.

Mechanism(s) of Action

According to research, when an area of the body is injured and tissue is damaged, the movement of pain and inflammatory related electro-chemicals to the injury site cause an imbalance in the localized electromagnetic fields. The increased cell membrane potential associated with this imbalance triggers pain and swelling. The application of a therapeutic magnetic field to the injured area appears to relax capillary walls and the surrounding muscle and connective tissue, thereby increasing blood flow, which has been demonstrated by thermographic imaging. The increased blood flow supplies more oxygen and nutrients to the injured site, while the pain and inflammatory, chemicals are efficiently removed. This process restores the normal cell membrane potential and electromagnetic balance at the injury site, relieving pain, inflammation and promoting rapid healing.

Common Problems with Magnetic Therapy Products

Most companies incorrectly use the type of magnetic material and the gauss rating to indicate the strength of their products. This information is meaningless without also knowing the size and the number of magnets contained in the product. Because one magnet has a higher gauss rating than another, does not necessarily mean that it is stronger. A small neodymium magnet rated at 11,000 gauss may effectively penetrate only a few inches into the body, but a large ceramic block magnet rated at 3950 gauss will effectively penetrate completely through the body.

Many products on the market use magnets that are too small and too few in number to be effective. If injured tissue is located several inches below the skin and the magnets are too small, the magnetic field strength will drop below therapeutic levels before it reaches the injured tissue and provide little or no benefit.

Another problem with many bio-north products on the market is that they are manufactured with the magnets facing the wrong way (bio-south facing the body), which can increase, rather than ease discomfort.

Therion’s products are your best choice...

Therion' products use high-energy, research grade magnets manufactured to our exact specifications. The correct size and number of magnets are precisely, calculated to ensure maximum depth of penetration and complete coverage of the affected area. The proper placement of each magnet is carefully checked during the manufacturing process to ensure correct polarity. Therion products are constructed using support and cushioning materials designed to provide added therapeutic benefits. In addition, all Therion products include detailed instructions for proper application and use to ensure maximum effectiveness. After nine years of biomagnetic research and the development of advanced engineering methods and designs, Therion has introduced the finest line of biomagnetic therapy products available.

Warnings:

Magnetic therapy should not be used by anyone wearing a pacemaker, defibrillator, insulin pump or any other implanted electro-medical device. Magnetic therapy should not be used during pregnancy. Magnets should not be placed on the abdomen for 60 to 90 minutes after eating (they may interfere with digestion). Do not place magnets near sensitive electronic equipment such as TV’s, computers, computer disks, video tapes, etc.

Disclaimer:

Magnetic therapy products are not sold as medical devices. Therion Research does not diagnose, prescribe, or make any medical claims. We recommend that you always obtain a proper diagnosis from your physician or health care professional. Magnetic therapy is not intended to replace medical instructions or prescriptions. No guarantee of effectiveness is made with the use of magnetic therapy products, as individual results may vary.
