Rude and uninformed salespeople. You have to literally BEG them to order anything for you. Then expect to wait 5x whatever they tell you the shipping time will be. We waited 5 months and 2 days for 6 cabinets! Unless you are prepared to take over a year to complete a project, Direct Buy is worthless. I have never been in a salescenter when you needed to PLEAD with the employees to take your money. That says it all! They are only interested in selling memberships, after you join they couldn't care less about you and refuse to answer your calls. You have to personally go in to do your begging. I would never recommend them and agree they need to be out of business.

I called to reschedule my appointment and got a taste of their customer service. I told the girl who answered of my concerns that I had heard others speak of Direct Buy as a Scam. She said, and I quote " That has no direct bearing on me, if people are stupid enough not to take advantage of a good offer when they see it...." Well, that sure told me what would welcome me at the door. I put the phone down and tore up my invitation... I suggest you all do the same.

Like a lot of the people who posted, I wish I would have found this website before I called DirectBuy web search for DirectBuy. (Interestingly, it is very difficult to find information about DirectBuy web search for DirectBuy, took several searches before I found THIS site.) My story: Saw the infomercial several times before calling 800 number. In the middle of a remodel & kitchen/flooring options were of particular interest. Phone representative gave NO information (Hint #1), got "open-house invitation" as-well-as several phone calls to confirm attendence. (Hint #2) Arriving at the "showroom" & greeted by self-admitted ex-car salesman. (Hint #3) Required to fill out a form requesting: home ownership, employment & average salary. (Hint #4) the ominous 'due to the sensitivity of information, potential members who choose not to join will NEVER be permitted to reapply.' I was offered refreshments & escorted to the "video room", salesman off-handedly apologized for "the script." I jokingly asked, "will this be like those Las Vegas time-share pitches?" and he quickly left the room. (Hint #5) After the video, flip charts of unbelievable savings (examples provided by members) on Sony plasma screen TVs, sofas, Fitness Quest eliptical machines, leather jackets, men's Nun shoes, Seiko watches (none of which I'm in the market for as if I would buy a $2000 television anyhow) were presented All this "information" about actual "manufacture pricing" is "SO SECRET" that these manufacturers would cut off DirectBuy web search for DirectBuy if any member tried to use the information to get a better price. Hint #6 - there are NO SECRETS. The pitch also included member agreement not to resell merchandise on eBay (like it's not already being done!) Then the big number, MEMBERSHIP:  a mere $3490 for a single person for a three year membership (4th year free.) A family membership costs $3990.  Years 4-10 "only" $159 a year. He use the marker-board for the same over ten years funny numbers costs, finally the "join NOW or leave FOREVER" pitch. Hint #7 I knew better but if I could get a better grade of cabinet for the cost of a low-end unit, the membership might be worth it. I'd already done my research, so I kept the guy there for 2 1/2 hours trying to get him to give me actual prices for items I actually need to purchase ie. kitchen cabinets, wood flooring, vinyl siding...of course he couldn't. (Hint #8) All examples sited were extremely high-end. Moderately priced items had very little mark-up, meaning your local Home Depot or Lowes can match the price. Hint #9 None of the Direct Buy “customer service specialists” were so no one could answer my questions or show me any figures, but the salesman kept reassurring me I'd recoup my membership on the kitchen alone Finally, I asked if there was an "out-clause" in the contract - three days from date signed, so I agreed to join. When I got home with my "new member exclusive info packet" I checked out Direct Buy's member's only website (Hint #10) & found most of the info was available on the individual manufacture's website (and a heck of a lot easier to navigate!) Next Day I decided if the kitchen planner could give me a better price on cabinets than I got at my local 84 Lumber, I'd consider keeping the membership...figuring over 4 years, I could recoup most if not all of the cost of membership by furnishing my house as well as my mother's, sister's and cousin's house, etc. When I arrived, I was greeted fawning and smiles and introduced to everyone. I sat down with the kitchen planner and guess what... DirectBuy web search for DirectBuy's price for my kitchen was a whole $400 less. BOY, that makes a huge dent in that $3490 initial cost. When I told the salesman I was considering cancelling my membership he told me I was "making a BIG mistake" and  I'm "putting JUNK in in my house." (Hint #11) When I told them I was definately cancelling you would have thought I announced I was a child molester. Everyone was curt and spoke abruptly. I was told to immediately surrender all membership material including the kitchen quote I just received. (most of this crap I didn't bring with me) I told them I'd put it in the mail. I'm planning on sending it postage due. Final thoughts...if you make over $100K a year, own a $250K home and plan to spend BIG BUCK on furnishings or a remodel (or even buy a $2000 plasma TV) MAYBE DirectBuy web search for DirectBuy is for you. But then again, if you're that rich, you can afford to pay retail anyway.
