For Dave and Kathy Jennings, the reasoning behind owning a UCC TotalHome? franchise is simple. "We bought a franchise because of the concept," says Dave. Previously, Dave had been a corporate executive and Kathy was a loss prevention representative for an insurance company. The Jennings left those positions, and opened up a UCC TotalHome? Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Oddly enough, the largest factor that pushed the Jennings to buy a franchise has become their toughest adversary. "The big challenge is helping people understand the concept, letting people know what retail does to them." However, the Jennings are learning how to overcome that challenge, and enjoy the rewards of being UCC TotalHome? franchisees.
"We help manufacturers sell more product, we help families to buy better quality merchandise for less money, and in a small way, I think that we are making a difference," says Dave.
Another major reward has been the Jennings' opportunity to get their family involved in UCC. "We've been able to get the family into the business," says Dave. "It has helped the children mature, and now they take a personal interest in what we do."
Success is important to the Jennings, and the training received from the Corporate Support Center is vital to obtaining that success. Franchisees go through comprehensive training and work in other UCC TotalHome? Centers before opening up their own franchise. The Jennings add that to succeed, "you must have an unselfishness to help others, and also be a good teacher."
The Jennings have enjoyed the benefits of UCC TotalHome?, both financially and spiritually. "It is a strong ethical business. UCC grows and gets stronger everyday."
